J&K residents brace against natural disasters

Still reeling under the aftermath of last year's earthquake, people in Kashmir are now determined never to be caught off-guard again in the face of natural disasters. NGOs in the state are meeting people to discuss the practical difficulties faced during the rescue and relief operations in north Kashmir, and chart out a disaster management programme for the region. "We had no preparedness to handle the natural disaster, and we committed a lot of mistakes," said MA Mir, Executive Director, VHAI.
