It's the first time that the United States has fired weapons during the war in Israel, a significant move that saw a US warship intercept 3 cruise missiles and several drones headed for Israel from Yemen. The target, the US says, was Israel and if these weapons had struck their targets, it could have resulted in a further escalation of the conflict. Israeli defense forces spokesperson, Lt Col (R) Peter Lerner in conversation with Vishnu Som affirmed, "Israel is tracking the situation closely and challenging Israel is an irresponsible act."
