The election to the US Presidency, the world's most powerful job, isn't based on the popular vote. It's a bit more complicated than in India. This is how it works: Basically, the ballots have Obama and McCain's names, although elections are also held for the US Congress simultaneously. However, votes cast for Obama or McCain don't go to them directly but to the electoral college. At such a point, it's all or nothing.
