With the wheat harvesting season almost over in Punjab, scores of farmers and farm labourers began their 'march' to Delhi's borders to protest against the new farm laws. Defying the Covid protocols and lockdown in Punjab, hundreds of supporters of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), including women and the elderly, gathered at Beas town in Amritsar district on Wednesday before heading for Delhi's Singhu border to intensify the agitation against the three farm laws passed last year. Punjab on Wednesday recorded nearly 8,000 fresh Covid cases. The state also added 180 new deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.
