Ex Professor GN Saibaba Acquitted In Maoist Links Case, Wife Says He Was Mentally Tortured

Ex Delhi University professor GN Saibaba has been acquitted by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court in a case filed against him for allegedly have links with Maoists. Mr Saibaba's wife, Vasantha, told NDTV that he was kept in the "anda cell" of Nagpur jail and mentally tortured and harassed. "CCTV cameras were installed in his cell. This [high court verdict] is not just a victory for me but for the families of all those activists and intellectuals who are put behind bars and falsely framed," Ms Vasantha said. "…This case must set precedence for all those who are put behind bars for raising their voices against the government. One of the accused died in these years of imprisonment, and wish he was here to celebrate the victory with his family," Ms Vasantha said.
