Y K Hamied, Chairman of Cipla highlighted the issue of making cancer drugs more affordable during the NDTV-Fortis Cancerthon. He explained that there are over 200 different types of cancer and that is why affordable prices need to be implemented across wide range of products. According to him the problem of high drug prices is because of monopoly and so government needs to increase competition and allow everybody to make cancer drugs and not just the inventors of the drug.
