Elephant Tragedies Amid Oscar Honour

Four elephants were tragically electrocuted in Tamil Nadu forests over the last week even as the state celebrates the Oscar for 'The Elephant Whisperers', the documentary on a tribal couple in the Nilgiris raising an orphaned elephant calf. Authorities blame it on lapses by the ground staff. NDTV spoke to Tamil Nadu Forest Secretary Supriya Sahu on these tragedies and what the Oscar recognition would mean to wildlife conservation.
