Lovelesh Tewari, Sunny Singh, and Arun Maurya, the three men in their twenties who shot and killed Ahmed were sent to judicial custody for 14 days after they were produced in court. Atiq Ahmed's body, along with that of his brother Ashraf who was also killed, was buried in their village in Prayagraj after a post-mortem. His sons performed the last rites.
