At a village in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, four young siblings live on their own in a shed. They cook their own food and have been told that they will be given Rs. 1,000 a month for sustenance. The oldest is 12-year-old Sonia. She has now become the head of her family, a role thrust upon her after their uncle threw them out. They have been tossed around between relatives since their parents allegedly committed suicide two years ago, driven by poverty and loss of crops.
