A major inter-state child trafficking racket suspected to have bought and sold at least 50 children, was busted in Hyderabad. 13 babies less than three years old were rescued and shifted to government-run homes. The families that adopted them illegally are in trauma as are the young ones. The scam once again highlighted the tough challenges in legal adoption that allow such commodification of babies to thrive.
