It's a landmark day for women in the armed forces. The government clears women at the 10+2 level for admission into the National Defence Academy where they can immediately train for permanent commission into the Indian armed forces. The government's decision came after the Supreme Court, in a previous hearing, had unequivocally stated that the existing policy was discriminatory and told the government to change the policy or they would pass an order.
