Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a 3-hour meeting with political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir today, spoke about removing 'Dilli ki Doori as well as Dil Ki Doori' and assured his commitment to restoring full statehood at the right time. Sajad Lone, Chairman, People's Conference, tells NDTV: "The Union government is the one that can effect change on the ground, it is the reality whether we like it or not. They are the change makers, and we have to work with them. I walked out of the meeting optimistic that hopefully, with hindsight of 2 years, the Union government and leaders from Jammu and Kashmir would be able to work constructively for a phase of reconciliation".
