The Supreme Court makes itself clear on increasing air pollution situation across North India. "This is worse than an emergency," said the Supreme Court adding that accountability for farm fires in Punjab be fixed and that those who break the law be punished. The Supreme Court also said ways have to be found to extinguish the farm fires as soon as possible. There was a lot more that the top court said as well, including questioning the rationale for the Odd Even scheme, which began today in Delhi. Tonight, we debate on whether the Supreme Court is our last hope. We are joined by the finest minds on this topic- Dr SN Tripathi of IIT-Kanpur, a key member of the National Clean Air Programme, Navroz Dubash of CPR, Dr K Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation, Hiren Jethwa, one of the world's leading scientists on remote sensing of air pollution among others. A real debate with experts on an issue affecting the lives of millions across large parts of India.
