Dengue subtype 2 or DENV-2 is currently predominant in India. The centre has issued red flags to 11 states that are reporting an increase in the number of dengue fever. According to the World Health Organisation, while many DENV infections produce only mild illness, DENV can cause an acute flu-like illness.
