With a transmission rate of 70 percent, the new mutant strain of COVID-19 revealed in the UK represents one of the biggest challenges since the virus first went global almost a year ago. It is not that mutations in viruses are uncommon -- there have been hundreds of mutations already. But what we are seeing here is not just a large number of mutations but mutations in the Spike Protein that governs entry into human cells.
