Professor G. Madhavi Lata, who played a pivotal role in building the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab River, was honoured as Indian Science Icon of the Year at the NDTV Indian of the Year awards. In an interaction with NDTV, she spoke about the immense challenges of constructing the bridge-extreme winds, high seismic risk, difficult terrain, and years of uncertainty-but said the team never believed the project was impossible. Calling it "civil engineering above the clouds," Madhavi Lata said the goal was to demonstrate India's strength and resilience for future generations.
