Nepal Hydropower Wiped Out By Floods | All About Trishuli Project & How India Helped Nepal
NDTV takes you to ground zero over the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli valley, where devastating floods have left Nepal's critical infrastructure buried under millions of tonnes of debris. Roads, bridges, and the Nepal-China border post have been completely swept away, but the biggest economic hit is to Nepal's energy sector, wiping out or severely damaging 281 MW of operational hydropower and disrupting another 388 MW under construction. At the heart of this crisis is the Trishuli River cluster—including the massive 216-MW Upper Trishuli-1 project. With dozens of Indian workers trapped at the site, India has launched a vital bilateral emergency response, deploying an 11-member specialised tunnel-rescue and medical team to assist the rescue ops.
