Rescuers in Nepal pulled a Chinese national and a woman alive in separate operations on Saturday, 10 days after devastating floods hit the country. The Chinese man was rescued from a 225-metre hydropower tunnel at the Trishuli hydropower project, while a woman was pulled alive from a damaged house in flood-hit Nuwakot. The rescue operations come as teams continue searching for thousands of people still missing. Around 900 workers are missing across 12 hydropower projects, with about 500 believed to be trapped inside tunnels. At least 1,300 people have been killed in the August 26 floods, which were likely caused by a glacier collapse, according to Nepal’s disaster management agency.
