NASSCOM Opposes US PERM Suspension, Says H-1B Skilled Talent Mobility Distinct From Immigration

NASSCOM has responded to the Trump administration’s suspension of the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme, arguing that immigration and talent mobility are distinct issues. The industry body says Indian IT companies have reduced their dependence on H-1B visas, expanded local hiring in the US and continue to serve most Fortune 500 companies. NASSCOM also maintains that transitions from H-1B visas to employment-based green cards remain limited. The suspension could disrupt a key pathway to permanent US residency for Indian technology professionals.
