'Name Change An Insult To Gandhi, Tagore, Bengal': TMC MP On Renaming MGNREGA
The Trinamool Congress has strongly criticised the Centre's move to change the name of MGNREGA, calling it an insult to Mahatma Gandhi and Bengal. TMC MP Sagarika Ghose said the decision disrespects Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and Rabindranath Tagore, who gave Gandhiji the title "Mahatma." She accused the Narendra Modi government of having a "Bangla-birodhi mindset" and pointed out that ₹52,000 crore in pending MGNREGA dues to Bengal remain unpaid.
