It’s a big update for Mumbai’s commuters. From September 20, Monorail services will remain completely shut until further notice. The decision comes in the wake of recurring technical glitches and rising safety concerns. During this period, MMRDA will carry out a large-scale modernization drive, including the installation of CBTC signalling, introduction of new Make-in-India rakes, retrofitting of old coaches, and station upgrades. The authority says that after a few months of inconvenience, Mumbai will finally get a Monorail that is faster, safer, and truly modern. Doctors across Maharashtra have announced a complete 24-hour shutdown from 8 AM on September 18th to 8 AM on September 19th, as the Indian Medical Association strongly protests the state government’s move allowing BHMS graduates with a short CCMP course to register with the Maharashtra Medical Council, doctors say this dilutes modern medicine, endangers patient safety, and even bypasses a pending Bombay High Court case, while urging the government to immediately revoke what they call a regressive decision.
