Mumbai Food Safety Crackdown: Is Maharashtra Finally Cleaning Up Your Plate?

Rats near railway food stalls, adulterated ingredients, unlicensed units and hygiene violations have triggered a sweeping food safety crackdown across Maharashtra.

The state FDA has conducted 1,100+ raids in two months, with action against restaurants, eateries, school canteens, hostels, quick-commerce hubs and railway food stalls. More than 900 businesses were inspected in one month, with over 100 licences temporarily suspended, while Western Railway has also shut down multiple food stalls in Mumbai.
