Monsoon Session Ends With Record Low Productivity: Lok Sabha 19%, Rajya Sabha 39%

The Monsoon Session of Parliament ends amid repeated disruptions, adjournments and sloganeering, with both Houses recording their lowest productivity in recent years. Lok Sabha functioned for just 15 hours and 36 minutes, recording 19% productivity, while Rajya Sabha worked for 24 hours and 21 minutes, with productivity at 39%. Several bills were passed with little or no debate, while Question Hour was repeatedly disrupted. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Opposition of prioritising protests over discussion as the government and Opposition traded blame over the session's disruptions.
