Monsoon Mayhem | Monsoon Fury In Jammu And Kashmir, Floods, Landslides Damage Infrastructure

Heavy rainfall triggered a flash flood last night in Thathri Sub-Division of Doda district, causing extensive damage to homes, vehicles, and property. The sudden rise in the water level of local streams sent floodwaters rushing through the entire Thathri market, leaving a trail of destruction. Along with the floodwaters, large stones and debris were swept into residential areas, reaching people's homes and causing further damage. Several vehicles were also damaged as the flash flood inundated roads and marketplaces. Local residents faced a difficult situation as the flood struck unexpectedly. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage, while restoration and relief efforts are underway. Residents alleged that after link roads construction work, debris is routinely dumped into the Thathri stream. They claimed that the accumulation of this debris obstructs the natural flow of water, leading to frequent flooding in the area.
