A portion of an under-construction Metro pillar collapsed in Mulund, north-east Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, killing one person and injuring three others. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), a section of the parapet fell from a height onto a passing auto-rickshaw, while a nearby car was crushed.
The incident has triggered serious concerns over construction safety and civic oversight in the city. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has vowed strict action, with five arrests already made in connection with the case.
