Argentina trained again on Wednesday, as captain Lionel Messi celebrated his 39th birthday. He shared a cake with his Argentina teammates on Wednesday at their World Cup training base in Kansas City, Missouri. So far, the World Cup has brought Messi nothing but joy. Defending champions Argentina has already reached the knockout stage, and its captain has become the tournament’s career scoring leader with 18 goals. This is Messi's sixth World Cup and the fifth time he's had a birthday during the tournament. The exception was the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which was played in November and December.
