West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hit out at the BJP over the Jagannath Dham controversy saying “jealousy has no cure” amidst BJP’s claims that the West Bengal Government has had to change the name of the newly built Jagannath temple in Digha. While the West Bengal Government has not announced any decision about a change of name of the temple , the BJP claims, amidst criticism, the name has been changed. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee referred to the temple as Jagannath Dham and said it has irked the BJP. We all go to Puri. We never question. When I go to Puri the RSS protests, BJP protests. Why so much jealousy over the Jagannath Dham? When you fall short of potatoes, Bengal supplies. I love Odisha.” The BJP which has been targeting the Trinamool Congress on the issue, says, “…the West Bengal government was forced to quietly remove the misleading ‘Dham’ signage in Digha” and added that it was a “significant victory for Hindu unity.”
