Maharashtra's CAG Report Exposes 'Ghost Hostels' ; ₹1.62 Crore Released Despite No Students
A CAG audit has exposed major irregularities in Maharashtra's government-funded hostel system. According to the report, six hostels continued to receive public funds despite having no students between 2020 and 2024, with ₹1.62 crore released to these non-functional facilities. The audit also highlighted poor living conditions, including inadequate sanitation, unsafe drinking water, poor food quality, and a lack of basic infrastructure in several hostels.
