Madhya Pradesh: Residents Challenge Popular Tradition By Offering Prayers To Ravana

In Bhatkhedi, a small village in Madhya Pradesh, a remarkable tradition challenges popular beliefs about Ravana. Referred to as the demon king in the Hindu-epic Ramayana, Ravana whose effigy is traditionally burnt on Dussehra across the country, is worshipped in this village in Rajgarh district of the state. Villagers here revere him as a scholar and a devotee of Lord Shiva.
