Lebanon: Another Truce Surprise For Israel PM

The ceasefire announcement appears to have caught Israel off guard, reportedly even surprising members of the government's own security cabinet. According to a well-regarded Israeli news outlet, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a security cabinet meeting with only five minutes' notice shortly before the announcement. Reports from the meeting indicate that ministers were not given an opportunity to vote on the ceasefire. For some observers, this is being seen as yet another instance of Netanyahu yielding to pressure from US President Donald Trump to end the fighting, even when the timing or terms may not align with Israel's preferences. NDTV World's Gaurie Dwivedi sheds light on story.
