Kerala Orders Vigilance Probe Into Gyanesh Kumar In 2006 Malaysian Engineer Suicide Case

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ordered a Vigilance investigation into a 2006 case involving Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who was then the state’s Public Works Department secretary. The case relates to the suicide of Malaysian engineer Lee See Been, associated with the PATI-BEL consortium working on the MC Road upgrade under the Kerala State Transport Project. Reports say Lee’s suicide note mentioned Kumar. A previous Vigilance inquiry had been initiated but did not reach a conclusion, and authorities are now examining allegations that the probe was derailed.
