Karnataka News | Karnataka Deputy CM Race Heats Up: Congress Weighs Social Balance For New Govt

As the Congress finalises the contours of the DK Shivakumar-led government, intense discussions are underway over the appointment of two or even three Deputy Chief Ministers. Sources say Rahul Gandhi is pushing for a young, dynamic cabinet with strong representation for Dalits, tribals, OBCs and other key social groups. Senior leaders including G Parameshwara, M.B. Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge and veteran leader K.H. Muniyappa are among the names being considered. With elections just two years away, the Congress leadership is attempting a delicate balancing act between experience, caste equations, regional representation and party unity in the post-Siddaramaiah era.
