Karnataka Minister UT Khader's Remarks On Criminals Spark Row

Karnataka Minister U.T. Khader has sparked a political controversy after remarks made at a public meeting in Mangaluru about dealing with anti-social elements. Referring to the tenure of a former Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Khader said criminals feared the police because they were allegedly shot in the legs or arms. While acknowledging that such actions were not in accordance with the rule of law, he argued that they acted as a deterrent against crime.
