'Judiciary Isn't A Popularity Contest': Justice Surya Kant On Criticism & Trolls

Speaking to NDTV, Justice Surya Kant said that the judiciary's job is not to seek popularity but to deliver impartial justice according to the Constitution. He emphasised that every verdict naturally favours one side and goes against the other, so dissatisfaction is inevitable. On social media criticism and trolling of court decisions, he said judges must stay unaffected, fearless and completely detached, focusing only on their duty to uphold the law.
