In an exclusive interview with NDTV, renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs has issued a sweeping warning over the escalating conflict involving the United States, Iran, and Israel, calling it "one of the most dangerous moments in modern history." Sachs sharply criticised US President Donald Trump and Israeli leadership, warning that their actions risk triggering a wider global conflict with severe economic and security consequences. He described the situation as highly unstable, with rising risks to global energy supplies, infrastructure, and even the possibility of nuclear escalation. He urged major global powers-including BRICS nations-to step in and apply external pressure, stressing that internal checks within the warring sides are insufficient. Sachs also warned countries like India to act cautiously and prioritise strategic independence amid rising geopolitical tensions. His overarching message: the world cannot remain a spectator, and urgent coordinated global intervention is needed to prevent a broader disaster.
