Jawans Perform Wedding Rituals For Slain Soldier's Daughter In Rajasthan
In Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, an emotional scene unfolded. 24 soldiers from the 13 Grenadiers battalion attended the wedding of martyr Bhagirath Kadwasra’s daughter Sushmita, fulfilling a promise made years ago. The soldiers, including Commanding Officer Colonel Somendra Kumar and retired Colonel Suresh Chandra Rana, travelled specially from the Ganganagar Jaisalmer sector to be part of the ceremony. They performed every ritual a father would seating the bride in their lap, performing the kanyadaan, overseeing the wedding vows, and standing by her during the farewell. As Sushmita bid goodbye, soldiers and villagers alike were seen in tears, even as pride filled the air.
