Israel Attack | Zohran Mamdani Heckled With TRAITOR Chants At New York City's October 7 Vigil

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani faced angry chants from pro-Palestinian protesters as he attended an October 7 vigil in Manhattan’s Union Square. Mamdani stood among mourners at the vigil, organized by Israelis for Peace, which remembered Israelis killed in the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attacks as well as Palestinians killed during the subsequent war in Gaza. As protesters gathered around the event, Mamdani was met with chants including “Traitor!” and “Mamdani, you cannot hide.” Police separated protesters from vigil attendees as tensions escalated. The confrontation comes amid a highly public dispute between Mamdani and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Mamdani has repeatedly criticized Netanyahu over Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and has referred to him as a war criminal. Netanyahu, during his September 24 United Nations address, called Mamdani an “anti-Semitic mayor” and accused him of supporting Hamas. Mamdani had previously pledged during his mayoral campaign to use the NYPD to enforce an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Netanyahu if the Israeli prime minister came to New York, although Mamdani later acknowledged that the city lacked the legal authority to make such an arrest.
