Iran Ship Attack | Iran Warns US After Deadly Torpedo Strike On Warship

An Iranian warship, IRIS Dena, was sunk in the Indian Ocean after a torpedo attack by a United States submarine. The vessel was returning from the International Fleet Review 2026 in Visakhapatnam, India, when it was struck and later sank off the southern coast of Sri Lanka. At least 87 crew members were reportedly killed, while more than 30 survivors were rescued and hospitalized by Sri Lankan authorities. Pete Hegseth, the US Defense Secretary, confirmed the strike, calling it the first sinking of an enemy ship by torpedo since World War II. Iran has condemned the attack as an “atrocity” and warned Washington of consequences.
