Iran’s president said that he recently met for “two and a half hours” with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared in public since he was wounded early in the war. Top Iranian officials claim the new supreme leader is playing a key role in supervising U.S. talks. But so far Khamenei has only released a series of written statements read out on state television. President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed he had a long chat with Iran’s top leader and praised his “sincere” character.Pezeshkian was speaking at a meeting with business figures at a government ministry in Tehran when he delivered the remarks.
