Iran News | Foreign Ministers Of Iran And Iraq Discuss Security And Khamenei Funeral

The foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq met in Baghdad on Sunday and discussed further cooperation between the two countries, the conflict in Iran, as well as the funeral procession of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Abbas Araghchi told a joint news conference with his Iraqi counterpart that Iran is "determined to expand our cooperation with the new government of Iraq, just as we did with previous governments, across all political, economic, security, cultural, and other fields." He also welcomed Iraq's proposal to revive a meeting of eight countries including the Gulf states, Iran and Iraq. Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein talked up the "importance of implementing the understandings reached between the American and Iranian sides to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the naval blocakde on Iran." The ministers also discussed plans for a funeral procession for Ali Khamenei through the Iraqi cities of Baghdad, Kadhimay, Karbala and Najaf.
