External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said it is in India's and the world's interest for Russia to maintain multiple strategic relationships in Asia, amid its growing reliance on China. He said India wants Russia to have other partnerships in the region that carry significant strategic weight and consequence. Jaishankar said India is maintaining its longstanding relationship with Moscow and reassuring Russia that ties built over the past 75–80 years remain steady despite changes in the global strategic landscape. He added that India is not passing a value judgment on Russia's changing relationships but believes continued India-Russia ties serve a wider strategic interest.
