Responding to questions on India building a full-stack sovereign AI model, Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, said the company sees itself as an enabler and partner in India's AI journey. He noted that sovereignty in AI involves governance through the rule of law, data residency, control over technology infrastructure, and strong cybersecurity. Smith emphasised that Microsoft supports these goals by helping protect cybersecurity, enabling responsible AI governance, and collaborating as a co-creator of technology across sectors. He said India can strengthen its sovereignty while also leveraging global technology partnerships to lead in the AI era.
