As temperatures dipped in Jammu’s RS Pura, a poignant scene unfolded when Sardarni Jaswant Kour placed a warm blanket over the statue of her son, BSF Constable Gurnam Singh, to protect it from the cold. Constable Singh, who served with the BSF’s 173 Battalion, attained martyrdom in 2016 after foiling a terrorist infiltration attempt and later succumbing to a sniper bullet injury. The mother’s gesture stood as a powerful symbol of sacrifice, love and the nation’s eternal respect for its bravehearts.
