Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi has weighed in on the ongoing 'I Love Muhammad' controversy, defending the public display of religious devotion. Azmi asserted that no one can stop people from expressing love for their faith, drawing parallels between 'I Love Muhammad' and phrases like 'I Love Mahadev'. He accused the government of selectively targeting Muslims for such expressions, claiming that celebrations by Muslims often lead to jail time and legal action. Azmi also alleged that the government is working to marginalize and suppress the Muslim community. He urged Muslims to follow the teachings of the Prophet, saying that by doing so, the world will come to respect and love them.
