How Sustainable Is India's Residential Sector?
As per U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) list of the Top 10 Countries for LEED certification in 2022, India's ranks second to China with 323 projects having received certification. Yet the thrust remains on adapting more to by laws than making greener buildings when it comes to India's real estate sector. While commercial real estate accounts for only 25% of the Indian real estate market, the demand for greener buildings exists in this sector due to end user demand.
