Heavy thunderstorms and rain hit the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf states on Friday. Heavy thunderstorms and lightning struck the area in Dubai's downtown district, home to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Lightning illuminated the night sky and thunder boomed in the Barsha neighborhood as Dubai's roads were flooded and some cars were abandoned.
