As summer heats up, Indian cities face increasing heatwave risks, warns the IPCC. Urban areas lacking greenery experience intense heat island effects. As per IMD, cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru are seeing temperatures surpassing 40°C, signalling a shift from historical norms. Urgent action is needed to adapt to rising temperatures, prioritising heat-resilient infrastructure and green spaces.
