Scenes of mismanagement, heavy crowding, and systemic failure have once again emerged from Udhna railway station in Gujarat. With the onset of summer holidays, thousands of migrant workers gathered at the station to return to their hometowns. However, the situation deteriorated to the point where people had to stand in queues stretching up to 2 kilometres for 14 to 16 hours. Many passengers remained in line without food or water, leading to worsening health conditions. The crowd became so unruly that police had to step in to control the situation, with reports of a lathi charge. However, when questioned, a senior police official denied any lathi charge, stating that no such action was taken by the police and that only those disrupting the arrangements were removed from the area.
