Governor apologises to Presidency students: Did he exceed his brief?

He's been accused by the CPM of going beyond his brief and making unwarranted statements. Well, today, the Governor of Bengal MK Narayanan did some more plain speaking - this time to students of Presidency University. "Politics in the country has become more coarse - we have slid back when it comes to politics. Failing to acknowledge one's guilt has been one of the faultlines," he said. What the Governor says is common knowledge, but will this be accepted by political parties in the ultra-sensitive situation in Kolkata these days.
