German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said he believes the Iranian government is in its “final days and weeks,” amid ongoing nationwide protests and allegations of violent crackdowns. Speaking during an official visit to India, Merz urged Iranian authorities to end violence against demonstrators and said a regime that survives only through force has lost its legitimacy. Germany, he added, remains in close coordination with the US and European partners on developments in Iran.
